The Installation of the 3rd Rector of St. Mary & St. Martha of Bethany
We are thrilled to announce that our Priest-in-Charge The Reverend Laura J. Masterson will be officially installed as rector on May 1 at 6 p.m. The liturgy will be presided over by The Right Rev. Robert C. Wright, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. We invite all who are interested to join us for this momentous occasion. It will be a time of Thanksgiving, celebration, and prayer as we mark the beginning of a new chapter in our church’s common life and faith. We look forward to seeing you there as we welcome and support our new Rector in this important role. A reception will follow. Clergy: red stoles.
Please RSVP to the Parish Office at [email protected]. |
What Does This Mean?
The installation of our Priest-in-Charge as Rector marks a significant milestone in the life of our congregation. The Rector is the spiritual leader of the church, responsible for overseeing worship, ministry, and community outreach and abiding by the canons of the church. This service signifies a formal commitment to our shared mission and a deepening of our partnership as we work together in faith. With the Bishop’s blessing, our new Rector will lead us into a future filled with hope, unity, and growth.

We acknowledge that St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany stands on the ancestral lands of the Muscogee (Creek) people, who stewarded this land for generations before their forced removal. As followers of Christ, we recognize our call to seek justice, reconciliation, and peace in the world. We commit to learning from their wisdom, advocating for their rights, and fostering relationships that reflect God’s love and justice. May this acknowledgment be a step toward truth and healing, guided by the Gospel’s call to love our neighbors as ourselves.
